Grant was the captain of the football team in 1927 as a junior. He was known as one of the finest catching ends in stats. He was equally proficient playing forward, guard, or center for the men's basketball team. He was also a member of the baseball team. In addition to his athletic accolades, he was also a stellar student in the classroom.
