2015 Men's Lacrosse - Team of Distinction

The 2015 Lynchburg men’s lacrosse team historically had one of the greatest seasons in program history and was the first squad to compete in the NCAA National Championship game. The group tallied a program-record 21 total wins and went a flawless 9-0 in conference play en route to an Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship title. In the NCAA postseason, the Hornets reached the finals with wins over Sewanee (13-4), Aurora University (19-8) and Salisbury University (13-11) at home before traveling to Gettysburg University for a thrilling come-from-behind 11-9 win at Gettysburg College. Attackman Austin Stewart paced the team on offense and earned accolades as the ODAC Player of the Year and a USILA First-Team All-American. That season, Stewart broke the NCAA record across all divisions for the most goals in a season with 109 total in 24 games, a record that stands as of 2025. Head coach Steve Koudelka was awarded the USILA Division III Coach of the Year following the immaculate season.
