2014 Women's Soccer - Team of Distinction

The 2014 Lynchburg women’s soccer team made history as the first Hornets team to win an NCAA Division III team national championship, defeating Williams in penalty kicks on December 6 at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Mo. The Hornets completed the season unbeaten at 27-0-1, claiming both the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title and a program-record 27 wins, tied for the most in Division III history. Their 122 goals ranked 6th all-time in Division III, and their 23 shutouts also set a program record. National recognition followed the team’s remarkable season. Angela Bosco was named NSCAA Division III Player of the Year and earned All-American, All-State, and ODAC Player of the Year honors. Head coach Dr. Todd Olsen was named NSCAA National Coach of the Year. Dessi Dupuy joined Bosco as an All-American, while freshman Emily Maxwell earned Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the NCAA Tournament and was named All-State and ODAC Rookie of the Year.
