Frank J. Bennett '32 competed in football, track & field, and baseball for Lynchburg College.

After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. During World War II, Bennet was part of the Corps' "Brass Hat Squadron," piloting the nation's leaders around the globe. He also flew commercially and broke the American coast-to-coast speed record in May 1947, flying from California to Florida in six hours, 24 minutes. He was a big game hunter and donated several exotic trophy animals to LC throughout the years.

He received the T. Gibson Hobbs Memorial Award from the College in 1971.
