Lynchburg Sports Hall of Fame
Rachel Sadowski, the 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year and first recipient of an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in program history, was a member of the women's soccer team from 2010 through 2013 and earned extensive accolades for both her athletic and academic achievements during her time at Lynchburg. In 2013, she was named a First Team All-American by NSCAA, CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-American, and ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She also made the All-State, All-South Atlantic Region, and All-ODAC First Teams in 2013. As a senior, she started all 24 games, anchored a defense that allowed only 0.58 goals per game, scored twice, and contributed four assists, including one in the NCAA Tournament. In 2012, she was recognized as a First Team All-American and the VaSID College Division Player of the Year, while scoring five goals and helping secure 18 shutouts. Her excellence on the field and in the classroom solidified her legacy in Lynchburg sports history.
