Calvin L. Porter '51 was a longtime sportswriter and sports editor for Lynchburg's two daily newspapers, The News and The Daily Advance, covering Lynchburg College sports and other local and regional athletic events.

The Lynchburg Area Sports Hall of Fame named its outstanding local sports coverage award in his memory.

He passed away in 2003.
